Joey Logano captured his second career Nationwide Series title last year,as he dominated the Nashville 300. Starting second on the grid, Logano lednine times for 95 laps, as he defeated Kyle Busch by 0.487 of a second. Polesitter Carl Edwards led early on, but faded to fifth, leading for 45 laps.The race however was between Logano and Busch as the duo battled back andforth throughout the race. Busch claimed the lead on lap 195, but Loganogarnered the advantage on lap 216 and held on the final 10 for the win.Now in its 10th year on the Nationwide circuit, Nashville Superspeedway hasseen several drivers record their first career wins. Greg Biffle posted hismaiden win in 2001 and was followed by Jason Leffler, Reed Sorenson, ClintBowyer and Brad Keselowski.In 2008, Scott Wimmer reclaimed the top spot on lap 205 and held on the restof the way to edge Clint Bowyer by .578 of a second for his sixth careerNationwide Series title. Wimmer, starting from the 14th position on the grid,led twice for a total of 22 laps. Pole sitter Kyle Busch, who placed 16th, ledfour times for a race-high 125 laps.Starting from the eighth position, Carl Edwards took the lead for the firsttime on lap 119 and then after trading the top position with Jason Leffler,regained the advantage on lap 201 and held on for a 4.673 seconds victory overDavid Reutimann in 2007. Edwards led three times for a race-high 74 laps, ashe posted his the 11th of his 25 career Nationwide Series titles. Pole sitterDavid Stremme led the opening 20 laps, but faded and finished 11th.The NASCAR Nationwide Series has been competing in the Nashville area since1984. The series first raced at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway (now knownas Music City Motorplex) in 1984, '88, '89 and 1995-2000. The fairgroundsfacility was a high-banked, 1/2-mile track which could trace its racingheritage back to 1907 when it opened as a 1-mile horse track. The series movedto the new 1.333-mile Nashville Superspeedway in 2001.Back in 2006, Kevin Harvick captured the Pepsi 300, as he crossed the finishline a mere 0.503 of a second ahead of Clint Bowyer for his 18th careerNationwide Series title. Harvick, who's win total now stands at 35, startedseventh on the grid and captured the lead for the first time on lap 81, butwas overtaken by Denny Hamlin on the 91st lap. Harvick reclaimed the advantageon lap 171 and held on through the end for his first win of 2006. Harvick ledfor a total of 66 laps, while pole sitter Hamlin led for a race-high 86 laps,finishing third.In 2005, Reed Sorenson cruised to a 14.471-seconds win over Kenny Wallace forhis first career Nationwide Series win. Sorenson, who started on the pole, led197 of the 225 laps. Sorenson's speed of 124.436 m.p.h. set a new race record.With his win, he became the first and only pole sitter to capture this race.The April 9th Bashas' Supermarkets 200 at Phoenix International Raceway is thenext event on the Nationwide Series schedule.
