Blacksburg, VA (Sports Network) - Tyrod Taylor threw for 176 yards and a touchdown and ran for 24 yards as 13th-ranked Virginia Tech throttled Virginia, 37-7, to win the Commonwealth Cup at Lane Stadium.

David Wilson carried 13 times for 84 yards and a score, while Darren Evans rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown on 13 totes and Ryan Williams carried seven times for 24 yards and two scores for the Hokies (10-2, 8-0 ACC), who have won the last seven in-state meetings and 11 of the last 12.

Virginia Tech reached the 10-win plateau for a seventh straight season with its tenth straight victory after two season-opening losses. The Hokies will face Florida State in the ACC Championship Game December 4 in Charlotte, NC.

Taylor became the Hokies' all-time leader in passing yards with 6,532, eclipsing Bryan Randall's total of 6,508 accumulated from 2001-04.

"It was a goal of mine that I wanted to get to," Taylor said of breaking the record. "It's a great accomplishment for me but we still have games to play. I'm not a record guy, although, I am honored to be put in that class with a guy like Bryan Randall."

Marc Verica completed 12-of-20 throws for 168 yards and was intercepted once for the Cavaliers (4-8, 1-7), who finished the season losing their last four games and seven of their last nine.

After a scoreless first quarter, Eddie Whitley's interception and 19-yard return to the Cavaliers five-yard line on the first play of the second period set up the first score of the game.

Williams ran up the middle to paydirt on the next play from scrimmage to give the Hokies a 7-0 lead 15 seconds into the quarter.

Virginia was stopped on a fake punt try at its own 45 and the Hokies took advantage, scoring just three plays later.

Wilson took a screen pass at the 20, bounced off a hit at the 10 and dived into the right corner of the end zone with 10 1/2 minutes remaining before the half.

The Hokies added a 40-yard field goal from Chris Hazley 22 ticks before the intermission to finish an 11-play, 63-yard drive.

Williams took a shotgun hand off and ran 15 yards, dragging a defender for the last five, for a score to give the hosts a 24-0 advantage 3:36 into the third quarter.

Evans carried seven times, including the last five, on an 11-play, 88-yard march that he finished with a six-yard scoring run to increase the lead to 31-0 with 3:51 remaining in the period.

Logan Thomas took over for Taylor and directed the final Hokies' scoring drive that Wilson finished with a two-yard run over right tackle.

Virginia's lone score came with three minutes to play when Keith Payne took a Ross Metheny screen pass 11 yards to the end zone.
